Treatment Process

Congratulations on choosing ketamine assisted therapy! Please note the process will vary slightly depending upon the number of treatments you receive, though each step below will be included.

Step 1–Consultation: Once contact has been established, you will receive a 15-minute consultation with a therapist to ensure ketamine is appropriate for your condition. You will receive payment information and your intake appointment will be scheduled.

Step 2–Counseling Intake: At your intake appointment the therapist will take your history and discuss your treatment goals. The ketamine experience will be explained in detail and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Full payment for your series is due at this time.

Step 3–Medical Intake: You will be given instructions by your therapist to contact our physicians. A virtual intake will be scheduled where the medical team will review your medical intake documents and provide you with a prescription. Your ketamine will be paid for directly to the pharmacy and shipped to your home address. You will bring your medicine with you to your treatments.

Step 4–Preparation: Your preparation appointment allows for a deeper exploration of your specific needs. Prior treatment and progress will be discussed in detail. Appropriate assessments will be given to gauge the current severity of your condition. Final details for your first ketamine session will be covered, including supplies and medicine.

Step 5–Administration: Your first ketamine session will last 1-3 hours. The therapist will guide you through the set-up, after which you will take the medicine. Your therapist will be with you the entire time to provide support and help guide you through your journey. Once the effects have worn off, important details will be noted for further discussion. You will be taken home where you are to relax for the rest of the day.

Step 6–Integration: You will meet within three days with your therapist following the ketamine session to process your experience. This session is vital to ensure you take advantage of the medicine. Additional notes will be made and the next administration will be discussed. Additional therapeutic techniques may be utilized at this stage.

Step 7–Continuation: Steps 5 and 6 will repeat until you reach your maximum dosage.

Step 8 – Processing: Your remaining therapy sessions will continue to apply your progress to daily life. Additional issues that surfaced during treatment will be discussed and coping skills implemented. At this point, additional therapy sessions may be granted if requested.

Step 9 – Closing: At your final session, you will retake appropriate assessments to help gauge your progress. The entire experience will be discussed and processed. Any remaining issues will be noted and what to expect following treatment will be addressed.

Couples: The process for couples will following the same process as the individual program, with the exception of administration. The first 30 minutes of the ketamine experience will focus on the individual experience (with both members will be in the same room) and the rest of the experience will be for mutual exploration.

Groups: Group sessions will be designed to meet the specific needs of the participants. There is a two-session requirement for each group (per the pharmacy). At this time, we are unable to accommodate more than five people per group session. The typical arrangement includes a circle configuration with participants lying on comfortable mats with their heads facing the therapist in the center. The first 30 minutes of the ketamine experience focuses on the individual experience, after which mutual exploration is encouraged.

Reaching out is the first step to recovery.
